Hard skin near toenail infected with fungus?

I have toenail fungus that is almost grown out. Im happy about this because i won’t have to continue the treatment much longer, but the skin at the very tip of my toe that is near the nail is hard. Also, when i cut my infected, fat nail, it left a dent in my skin, like how it was pressed in from the thick nail taking its place. Will this dent and hard skin eventually turn into “dead skin cell” and fall off? Do i need to do something about the hard skin? is it a separate fungal(or any) infection of the skin?
Thanks
